 Tavares is a city in Central Florida, with an estimated population of 12,802 residents.  Tavares was founded by Alexander St. Clair-Abrams in 1880 and was named for a Portuguese ancestor

Located on the north shore of Lake Dora, Tavares is the county seat of Lake County Florida.  Downtown is where most of the county buildings are located, along with local support businesses.  Wooten Park is a lovely park on the shores of Lake Dora.  Many activities can be enjoyed, swing on the swings, walk along the shore,  fish from the pier, or just have a picnic at the gazebo.

You will especially enjoy eating at O'Keefe's Irish Pub, or just having a drink on the porch overlooking Lake Dora.
